Meet the Team: Aaron's Journey

17 April 2020

In our culture, people are largely concerned with identity. 'Who you are' and 'what you do' are things people are obsessed by; which faith you have, which party you support, what work you do and what hobbies you're passionate about are all things people constantly have on their minds. It is the way we navigate through the world of people. Behind all of these things however, there is something we all share. Looking past someone's background and personality, we are all going through the exact same thing. This concept is not a popular one because it does not fit with how people define themselves and other people. To admit there is something common among all of us is to make our judgements of people redundant.

In the Support Worker role, we work with people that may not play the game of identity that society demands, people whom society may not recognise because they are just too different. Behind all their differences however, we see they are beings just like us. In the process of helping these individuals we get to transcend our own identities and simply be there with them, two souls helping each other.

Although this process is a wonderful opportunity, it is not easy to achieve. It is essential to have a strong, united team working toward ambitious goals with shared values. It's fundamental to have managers that listen, leaders that inspire and staff that will go the extra mile to help each other out. This is what You First is giving to the community. Never have I seen such a committed effort to get the best possible care for people who need it most. As someone who has never worked in care before entering this job was always going to be challenging, but I couldn't have progressed as much as I have without the professionalism and dedication of the people who run this company.

I am very grateful to You First and am proud to be a part of something that has had such a positive impact, both on its staff and the people it supports.

If you would like to make a massive difference in the lives of ordinary people, just as Aaron does, please drop us a line
