A Social Enterprise providing community based support for adults with learning disabilities and/or autism in the South West

Congratulations Sheena!

Congratulations Sheena on achieving your Care Certificate! Sheena joins Carol, Colin, Tanya and Chelsie who have also recently gained this award – we just happened to have a camera ready when Sheena collected her certificate!

The Care Certificate forms part of a wider commitment to training and one of the things You First prides itself upon is the way that we involve people who use our support in our training programme. This customer specific training is central to the You First Way as each person is unique and each individua obviously has the best insight into how their needs should be met. As someone once said, “if you have met one person with autism that is all you’ve done!”

Each human being is unique, and we work hard to involve customers and their family members in training design and delivery.

This level of training is well received by the people who work with us and is reflected in comments made in our weekly staff survey, for example:

“not only do they provide you with help and support throughout your work but You First will help provide you with the right courses and also support you in your “out of work” life which is really good. Very rarely do you get that with other companies”
“Excited to learn that further training to develop my skills as a Support Worker is available as part of my Personal Development Plan.”
“Received training this week on top of internet-based training and found it hugely beneficial.”

The weekly staff survey supports You First’s commitment to being a listening and responsive organisation and as staff request training and support in given areas our Operations Team are able to respond and provide this. The ability to respond organically in this way is a key feature of the You First Way.
